About Lobster
Lobster makes modular freediving neck weights and the Lobster Nose Clip. Every Lobster is handmade in Chisinau, Moldova, and is used by freedivers in more than 40 countries.
How it started
Lobster was invented by freediver Dmitrii Voloshin. After the AIDA Freediving World Championship in Belgrade he wanted to replace his self-made neck weight: a bicycle tyre filled with lead shot. The first Lobster was developed at Simpals Garage in Chisinau, from plasticine prototypes and plaster moulds to five versions of the fastening, a rubber coating and silicone inserts.
Milestones
- 2016: Lobster debuts at the AIDA Freediving World Championship in Turku, Finland. Japanese freediver Tomomi Suga Hamazaki sets a national record wearing it.
- 2020: Red Dot Design Award for product design.
- 2021: Cristina Francone sets a CMAS world record in dynamic with bi-fins (DYN BF) with Lobster.
- 2025: Lobster 2.0 with a more streamlined shape and no pressure on the collarbones, a new Large 6 kg size and the new Lobster Nose Clip.
- 2025: Squid ambassador Sanda Delija sets a world record at AIDA Mabini Depth Quest.

Handmade to order
Each Lobster takes about 14 days to make. Orders are usually ready to ship 21 to 30 days after purchase and arrive 7 to 14 days later. Every neck weight has a 1-year warranty.
